Technology Support Contract Awarded

Sacramento, CA: July 14, 2000 -- The technology-support contract for Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) has been awarded to Quest, a technology consulting and management company that specializes in managing school technology growth.

Quest will act as an outside project management company for Elk Grove’s active technology upkeep, including troubleshooting for the equipment and software. The company will also provide support to the school district via Quest’s Remote Network Operations Center (RNOC).

"Elk Grove Unified School District is flourishing," said Tim Burke, CEO of Quest. As we all know, technology is vital in helping students prepare for and succeed in the new economy."

Quest will also be the liaison between the telephone companies (Citizen’s and Pacific Bell) and the school district when it comes to technology issues, as well as managing other outside vendors.

"EGUSD has worked with Quest in the past and it has always been a very good working relationship. We are confident, due to their networking knowledge and certifications with our equipment, that they will do an outstanding job," said Greg Lindner, the director of technology services for EGUSD.

The Elk Grove Unified School District's wide area network has 48 locations with all secondary schools also connected. A total of about 6,000 computers are on the network with approximately 47,000 students connected. The 47,000 is expected to grow to about 80,000 students by the year 2010 with approximately 30-40 new schools to accommodate the growth.

"We needed a company that can handle that type of immense growth and Quest has demonstrated they can handle it with no problem," Lindner said.
