How to find out if DaaS is right for your business — part 2 Posted on September 20, 2012 by Tim Burke In addition to a no-charge DaaS proof-of-concept, there are a couple of other ways to get a real-world sense of how your organization can benefit from DaaS as well as Cloud computing in general: — No-charge VDI Data Collection/Assessment If you’ve begun to understand that your business may benefit from virtualization but are not sure about the specifics, I suggest you seek out a services provider with expertise in Cloud computing and virtualization who will do a free virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) assessment. At Quest, we offer a VDI assessment in which we identify the resources needed to migrate your applications to a virtual environment. You won’t spend a lot of time dealing with a Quest VDI assessment. It’s a low-impact effort in which we establish a critical application list, then use up to 10 workstations at your site to capture data for 7-10 days. Once completed, we review and analyze that data and present it to you, along with a variety of virtualization options, including recommendations about how to move forward. — No-charge Cloud Feasibility Assessment If you’re ready to see what Cloud services can give you, look for a Cloud services provider who offers a free Cloud assessment. Quest’s Cloud Feasibility Assessment identifies which of your IT capabilities can be moved to the Cloud. During this time, we’ll determine the level of service availability you need as well as your security, privacy, and compliance requirements. And we’ll make recommendations concerning your best Cloud options.
